1956 Jim Beam Elephant and Donkey Political Series Decanter (Coaster/Ashtray) Set
Temper today's political rivalry by displaying this wonder vintage set of elephant and donkey Jim Beam decanters from 1956. The 65 year old gray Jim Beam decanters are designed not only for display purposes, but they are also functional and can be used vertically as bookends or lay flat to be used as a coaster and ashtray. Very clever design!
These Jim Beam whiskey decanters are the first of the line of Beam’s Political Decanter Series, commemorating each election year from 1956 to 1988.
The empty whiskey decanters were designed by C Miller for James Beam and handcrafted in 1956 by Regal China. This is a very unique and rare set released as part of the Jim Beam political series.
The elephant still has the Jim Bean labels on the coaster area and the back.  The donkey has had the labels cleanly removed (no glue marks or residue).  There are no chips or cracks in either, though the top caps are missing.  Each decanter measures approximately 9 3/4" high, 5 1/2" wide, and 2 3/4" deep.
Honoring the 1956 election, I can just picture Dwight D Eisenhower sitting with the elephant decanter on the side table next to him (or Adlai Stevenson with the donkey decanter), his cigar resting on the upper ashtray area with a glass of Beam bourbon resting on the coaster.
These decanters often sell for - individually, but you can buy these as a set for less than that.
We are selling part of my father's Jim Bean decanter collection for him and all proceeds will go to my daughter, who has had reduced work hours due to the pandemic related business reduction.
